Schedule: Thanks to everyone who rode the South Beach Express in 2008.  We will resume operation to South Beach next winter!  Stay tuned to this website for dates.  Please note that regular Water Taxi service will continue to operate throughout the summer and fall.

Enjoy a comfortable cruise between Fort Lauderdale and South Beach aboard our new 65' catamaran, the Island Discovery!  The vessel features an air-conditioned cabin as well as open air seating, a restroom, and snack bar.  Take in the view of the Intracoastal Waterway or the Florida coastline (weather permitting) and arrive in the heart of South Beach in 2-3 hours.

South Beach is home to high-end shopping, dining, and a world famous waterfront.  Stroll along Ocean Drive (also referred to as "Deco Drive") to enjoy the myriad of Art Deco cafes and hotels located just across the street from the beach.  Or walk north to the high-end pedestrian-only Lincoln Road Mall.  Either way, you'll experience unique sights and sounds of South Beach!  Prefer not to walk?  The South Beach Local shuttle bus is available and operates every 30 minutes from near our berth at the Miami Beach Marina.

Fare: $23.00/person round trip, plus a $1.00 fuel surcharge.

Parking: Valet parking is available at the Fort Lauderdale Grande Hotel, right next to the ferry dock for $11.00.  PLEASE do not park in the public lot next to the boat, as the meters do not allow enough time for the trip.  Water Taxi is not responsible for any parking tickets received.  Click here to download PDF directions to the dock location in Fort Lauderdale.

  • Depart Fort Lauderdale: 8:30 am
    • Vessel departs at Water Taxi Stop #7, directly below the SE 17th Street causeway on the west side of the Intracoastal Waterway.  Please arrive no later than 8:15 to ensure that you have time to park and board the boat.
  • Depart South Beach: Approx. 4 hours after arrival
    • Vessel departs from the Miami Beach Marina at 300 Alton Road.

Reservations strongly recommended.
